In todo.vu, you can create custom labels to add to your tasks in a way that best suits your business’ unique needs and workflows.
With labels, your tasks are even easier to find, track and manage.
Here’s everything you need to know about task labels in todo.vu
Why create labels?
You might like to create labels in todo.vu to:
- Extend todo.vu’s default workflow state categories beyond ‘Snoozed’, ‘To do’ and ‘Done’ to better suit your own workflow.
For example, you might create labels such as “Pending approval”, “In testing”, or “To be released” to distinguish your tasks’ various project states.
- Extend todo.vu’s default task prioritisation options beyond the “Important” marker.
For example, you might create labels such as “On hold”, “Show stopper,” or “High priority”.
You can create and add task labels in todo.vu either from within an open task, from the Task Dashboard, or within your Workspace settings, found by clicking on your Workspace name and navigating to ‘Task labels’ in the drop-down list, or by following this link.
Create & add a label within an open Task
As you create a task (or after you have created a task), you can create and add a label to the task while the task is open.
While the task is open, select the label icon to the right of the Task title field.
Now, you can either search and add an existing label to the task, or create a new one. To create a new label, start typing the name of your label, and hit enter or the plus (+) sign when you have finished. This new label will then be added to the task.
You can easily remove this label by clicking on the cross (x) on the right-hand side of the label while within the task.
Create & add a label from the Task Dashboard
From your Task Dashboard, select the task or tasks to which you want to add a label by clicking the avatar/s (that is, the task assignee’s photo or icon) in the Task Listing.
If you need to narrow down the tasks appearing on the Task Dashboard to make your selection, don’t forget to use todo.vu’s context filter function.
After you have selected your task or tasks, navigate to the panel that appears above your Kanban task dashboard. Click the label icon from that panel, and search and add any labels that you want to attach to your selected tasks. Note that you won’t be able to create a new label here.
In the example below, we have chosen to select an already existing label “Awaiting client” to add to our selected tasks.
You can also bulk remove labels from tasks; however, be aware that every edit you make to the labels on your selected tasks will apply across every Task selected.
TIP! For more detailed information on task filtering using labels, please visit our Finding Tasks Support website page.
Create & add a label from Workspace settings
Click on your Workspace name and navigate to ‘Task labels’ in the drop-down menu. Or, once you are already logged in to todo.vu, navigate to this link here.
From this page in your Workspace, you can add a new label, edit an existing label, delete an existing label or change the colour of an existing label.
Labels can be renamed and personalised to evolve with your business.
Labels settings how-to
You can use the following functions when in your Task labels settings page.
Create new task label: Click ‘Add new label’ next to the plus sign (+) to create a new label. Then, place your cursor in the untitled label, marked with an ellipsis (…), and start typing your new label’s title.
Edit an existing task label: Simply place your cursor into the title field of an existing label to edit the label’s title.
Delete a task label: Select the delete icon (x) to remove a label from your workspace and from any tasks which have been given this label.
Change the colour of a task label: Simply click on the paint icon to the left of the label’s title and choose from the drop-down list to change that label’s colour.
Search for a specific task label: Search labels by keyword in the search bar at the top right-hand side of the page. To search for all tasks assiged a specific label, use todo.vu’s advanced Task filter function from the Task Dashboard.
Note that labels cannot be private. Every label you edit or create is visible to all team members as well as applicable users and contacts who have access to your workspace.
Labels for in-depth business insights
You can also use todo.vu’s task labelling system to improve your reporting and gain an even greater understanding of your business’ activity.
If you wanted to find out how much time you or your team spend on marketing tasks, for example, you could create and use the label “Marketing” for all marketing-related tasks.
Then, from your Reporting page, you could easily filter for your “Marketing” label and see at a glance how much billable or non-billable time was spent on that label by any team member, for any client or project, and within your chosen timeframe.
This creates a whole new dimension for time reporting that opens the doors to business improvement and greater productivity.
